BABYCENTRE UPDATES...25 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 25 weeks pregnant

Your baby is responsive to touch now. You can have fun with him by trying to tickle his foot when he kicks you or by lying on your back and rolling from side to side, to see how he reacts. His eyelids open around now and his heart is beating so strongly, it may be heard with a stethoscope.

How your baby's growing

Your baby's beginning to make some breathing movements, though there's no air in her lungs as yet. But her senses are developing fast. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show that babies respond to touch and if you shine a light on your abdomen, your baby will turn her head, which researchers say shows that the optic nerve is functioning.

The baby now weighs nearly 1.5 pounds / 660 grams and is approximately 13.5 inches / 35 centimetres long from crown to heel. He makes breathing movements but has no air in his lungs yet. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show response to touch. At every antenatal visit, your doctor will take your blood pressure and do tests on a sample of your urine. In this way, pregnancy-related conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes can be detected and treated.

How your life's changing

Sleep may not feel that restful any more if you're having vivid or scary dreams. These are normal because when you sleep, your subconscious becomes the stage for any worries about pregnancy and impending motherhood. Your growing bump may also make it hard to get into a comfortable position. It's recommended that you get into the habit of sleeping on your side rather than your back - follow our tips for using pillows as wedges.

Your fingers, wrists and hands may be feeling achy and numb. The carpal tunnel in the wrist is swollen, as are many other tissues in your body. Nerves that run through the tunnel end up pinched, creating pressure that manifests itself as shooting or burning pain. Wearing a brace may help; so will taking vitamin B6. Talk to your doctor about other ways to cope.

Thinking ahead

Many pregnant women worry about whether they will be able to birth their babies vaginally - a perfectly natural concern, particularly if it is your first. Take heart, there are some excellent positions for labour you can try which not only help your cervix to dilate during contractions but will also encourage the baby to move down the birth canal when the time comes. Using these positions along with established childbirth techniques such as breathing, massage and natural pain relief will increase your chances of a normal delivery.

HEMOGLOBIN SEMAKIN BAIK...

Seperti yang pernah tercoret sebelum ni regarding HB rendah pada check up yg lepas, kali ni HB dah semakin baik 10.9 mg..walaupun tak sampai lagi ke minimum level 11 mg, tapi alhamdulillah menunjukkan peningkatan..bak kata org, waktu pregnant ni mmg perkara yg tak dijangka2 ada je..tapi mmg pengambilan vitamin dan pemakanan dijaga dengan serius..taknak la apa-apa jadi kat baby especially kan..masa sebelum kawin ingatkan senang je buat anak ni..kawin then, mengandung..tapi x mcm tu rupanya..tanya hubby i kalau tak percaya..maybe ujian Allah pada kitorang utk lebih menghargai amanahNya..

Check up seperti biasa..check berat, urin, BP which all in normal condition..then, tadi nurse pun ada tunjuk result utk diabetis test check up sebelum ni gak..which is in normal level..then, dia bg briefing pasal pemakanan skit..and dapat la stock vitamin lagi utk dimkn..berat pn dah naik 2 kilo dari check up sebelum ni..which is also normal..and nurse tu pun pesan tak digalakkan berat naik sampai 4 kg dalam sebulan..so..walaupun perut i org kater tak nampak mcm 6 bulan, tapi baby measurement and weight semuanya normal seperti dijadualkan..tu pn dah cukup bagus..alhamdulillah..

Lastly, nurse inform yg kali ni kene amik injection utk kancing gigi..sbb mengandung anak sulung..injection tu kene amik 2 kali..so next check up kene inject lagi la nampaknya..pastu next check up dia suh dah bawak scan baby tu..nasib baik next appointment kat annexxe 15/7 then 18/7 baru check up kat KKIA...so boleh la bagi KKIA tgk scan tu..

Thanks dear 4 menunggu adik sepanjang check up tu..you are the best 3x..nyanyi ikut lagu hindustan yg abg suka tu...huhuhu

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...24 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 24 weeks pregnant

How your baby's growing

Your baby is still on the skinny side with no body fat but his brain is growing rapidly and he's starting to fill the space in your uterus. By now, you probably have a definite "pregnant" shape and the linea nigra, a dark line of pigmentation, may appear down the centre of your abdomen. Your baby's taste buds are also forming and, believe it or not, his sweet tooth. Could that explain your sudden craving for dodol and kuih lapis? No one knows for sure but it's a good excuse, next time you find yourself stalking the kuih lady at the pasar malam. Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about 99g/22oz since last week. Your fetus weighs more than 1.3 pounds / 600 grams. From crown to heel she could measure 11.8 inches / 30 centimetres. His skin is thin and fragile but his body is filling out and taking up more room in your uterus. He may also be developing a weakness for sweets. Taste buds are now forming, and, believe it or not, acquiring a sweet tooth is all part of it. The other big milestone your baby reaches at this stage of pregnancy is that she may now survive, with special care, if she is born prematurely - otherwise known as becoming "viable".

How your life's changing

You may notice faint red streaks, otherwise known as striae, or stretchmarks on your tummy, hips, buttocks and breasts. Lots of women have very itchy skin as well - pregnancy hormones can make your skin drier and stretching over a growing bump doesn't help. Rubbing on creams may make you feel more comfortable and help soothe the itching but it won't get rid of stretchmarks and is unlikely to prevent them. Stretchmarks are typical at this stage of pregnancy and will fade to silvery white marks after you give birth.

You may also find that your eyes are more sensitive to light, feeling gritty and dry - a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom known as dry-eye. To ease your discomfort, you can use an artificial tears solution to add moisture, available from pharmacies. How your baby's growing

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn. His lips are becoming more distinct and his eyes have developed; though the iris still lacks pigment, his eyebrows and eyelids are in place. His pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily and the first signs of teeth are showing beneath his gum line. Before you know it, your baby will be smiling at you. Your baby's skin is still quite wrinkled because he has so much growing still to do. But his face and body are beginning to look more like those of a newborn as his lips, eyelids and ears become more distinct. If people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that all women and their babies grow at different rates. What's important is that you see continuous growth and change, not how fast or slow it is.

How your life's changing

At this point, you'll probably notice a steady gain in weight - about 225g/half a pound each week. You may also notice that your appetite's increasing. It's okay to give in to an occasional yearning for Maggi mee or kuih lapis, but try to find a healthy substitute if you constantly long for junk food.

Sometimes it's difficult to look much beyond the birth but it's worth finding out about babies before you hold your own. For example, you may be surprised at what a newborn looks like or you may need a crash course in changing nappies. Get together with your husband and take our light-hearted quiz.

You may have noticed some changes down below. It's common in pregnancy to have an increased vaginal discharge as the result of increased blood flow in that part of the body. Needing to go to the loo a lot is another side-effect of pregnancy but don't forget that you are also more susceptible to urinary tract infections too - see your doctor if you suspect about of cystitis. You may also experience bleeding from the back passage, particularly if you have developed haemorrhoids. Follow our tips for avoiding constipation and it should help.
