KAK TIHAH....

KERANAMU AAISYAH....

Seminggu duduk di Setapak as full time housewife...selain menjaga Aaisyah, projek yg my hubby and i telah siapkan is rearranging the furniture...arrangement before was not suitable if you have a baby in your house...so kali ini...the goal is to clear the center of the hall...so nanti kalau Aaisyah dah boleh merangkak....takder la dia sempit sangat...coffee table still ada kat tengah but it is not a big problem....sbb itu boleh diangkat-angkat kan....lagipun coffee table tu tinggi...Aaisyah pun boleh merangkak kat bawah meja tu..hmmm...buat masa ni puas hati...sebelum ni pun ada cabinet kat hall tu...so i discuss with my hubby...instead of using cabinet, we put wall shelf...so lebih menjimatkan space...maklumla rumah kecik je kan...inilah hasilnya...sekang ni kami guna tikar which we plan to change it to shaggy carpet...tengah cari yang berkenan di hati...tak jumpa lagi-->latest picture 22/12/2011 di update setelah jumpa carpet nya....tapi dlm gambar carpet ni nampak lain plak...hmmm...gambar diambil dari 3 sudut berbeza dan dibuat perbandingan.....huhu

Credit to my hubby sbb berjaya dengan projek wall shelf nya with hidden electrical cable/wire....the next project is to paint the house...tak tau la bila baru dapat direalisasikan...huhu

NAIK PELAMIN SEKALI LAGI..HUHU

10/12/2011 yang lepas, my hubby's cousin mengadakan wedding reception...tema untuk keluarga pengantin perempuan adalah putih and kelabu...tapi pengantinnya pakai purple....so pagi tu adalah buat marhabban dan selawat sikit...jadi Aaisyah pun join la sekali ala ala macam cukur jambul tu...tapi ni majlis tak rasmi la...nanti maybe majlis rasmi sekali aqiqahnya pada 31/12/2011 ni....insyaallah....

And biasala baby bila kat kenduri...dia tak selesa kan...so agak merengek la Aaisyah hari tu...tambahan pulak dia jadi baby popular...ramai lak nak nengoknya...dia rasa rimas la kot...so dalam pukul 3 ptg tu... i and my hubby bawakla Aaisyah balik rumah my parents-in-law...lepak lepak kat stuh...tapi sempat la jugak kitorang bergambo...tumpang pelamin pengantin...huhuhu....

SUNTIKAN 2 BULAN...

Adakah tajuk hari ini termasuk i sekali...of course la kan....hehehe...cuba tgk rupa Aaisyah tu....byk betul persamaan dengan papa nya....tapi i tak kisah....org tua tua kater....kalau sulung anak perempuan...ikut rupa bapa nya....rumahtangga tu jadi sejuk....betul ke???insyaallah...tapi Aaisyah nampak mcm lagi ganas je dr kitorang...huhuhu

Kebanyakan gambar dah nak rosak....so better selamatkan dulu....i dgn adik beradik i mmg tak banyak gambar masa kecik...maklumla org susah....so satu-satunya gambar masa kecik yg ada ni la kene diselamatkan....so ini lah rupa uncle dan aunty Aaisyah masa diorang kecik....huhu..

SELAMAT PULANG DHUYUFURRAHMAN.....

Seperti yg apak dah inform dalam telefon sebelum ini, mereka berdua batuk batuk tapi alhamdulillah diorang sihat sihat je....yang kelakarnya...hari first sampai madinah, gigi palsu apak patah masa asyik sangat makan daging kibas...so...tak bergigi depan lah apak sepanjang berada di sana...lepas dah ambil bagasi masing-masing....kitorang bergambar skit...maklumla adik my hubby professional photographer....may mom and sister in law pun datang sekali untuk menyambut kepulangan diorang....my mom in law siap bekalkan kitorang nasi lemak lagi...punya la banyak...sampai mlm kitorang mkn...

Dalam pukul 8 pagi kitorang keluar dari KLIA dan lebih kurang pukul 10 pagi....kitorang dah sampai di Slim River...my kampung lah....kalau ikutkan cuti bersalin i dah habis dah 26 Nov tu...tapi i ada annual leave lagi yg belum habis...so tambahla i cuti sampai 16 Dec...tapi 10 Dec nanti i akan balik Shah Alam sebab sepupu my hubby kawin, then 11 atau 12 Dec akan balik setapak menghabiskan baki cuti seminggu di rumah sendiri...nak juga merasa jadi surirumah sepenuh masakan...lagipun nak menyesuaikan baby dengan tempat baru...Aaisyah ni bila sampai tempat baru , gaya tidur dia akan bertukar skit...

BABYSITTER SEPENUH MASA....

Hmmm...memula nak tulis surirumah sepenuh masa...tapi bila fikir balik mana ada buat kerja rumah pun...jaga Aaisyah je....semua mak(my mother in law) yang buat...tu pun rasa stress jugak...apala...

Kalau Aaisyah ikut schedule je,ok lagi...tapi bila dia dah lari dari schedule...pening kepala....especially bila dia tak sihat...bertambah lagi stress nya...bila mata dia nak tido tapi dia tahan jugak taknak tidur..merengek je....rasa nak marah je kat dia....siap membebel lagi kat dia walaupun dia tak faham lagi..."tidur je la..buat pe tahan tahan mata tu...skang la time leh tido banyak...kang dah beso tokleh nak tido banyak"...hehehe...kecik kecik dah kene bebel...tapi dia takder la selalu pun meragam...Aaisyah kan budak baik...

Tapi skang ni dah best skit...dia dah bersuara konon mcm nak bercakap la....bunyi yang dia selalu buat...."awuuuuu"..."agagaga"...dengan mimik muka dia tu...dengan mulut comel dia termuncung2 tu...huhuhu....geram betul...dia pun dah boleh cam orang dah...nanti dia tenung je pastu keluarla bunyi bunyi dia tu.....

Apa je di babysit kan pun....bagi susu...tukar lampin...pakaikan baju, krim dan minyak, tidurkan...itu je la di ulang tiap2 hari selama dekat 2 bulan ni....cuma kerjanya takder masa stop...24 jam...tambahan mcm Aaisyah ni...waktu menyusu dia 2 jam sekali tak kira siang atau malam...nanti tak dapat dah nak full time bila dah start keje...jumpa Aaisyah pun mesti malam je...hmmm....sian betul...mcm mana la org tu jaga Aaisyah nanti...harap2nya org tu sangat bertanggungjawabla menjaga anak org lain ni...

Skang ni baru tau perasaan surirumah sepenuh masa...sibuk buat keje kat dalam rumah...siapa cakap tak stress...stress tau...takder orang nak share bercerita atau bercakap...so mengharapkan bila hubby pulang share la something so leh la sang isteri komen ke bg pendapat ke...gelakkan sama2 ke....ni tak...bila balik buat hal sendiri je...terkebil2 si isteri tgk laki dia buat tak tau je...stress keje opis lain...at least boleh bergosip ngan rakan sekerja yg lain...stress sorang2 kat umah???oleh itu sang suami yg mempunyai isteri bekerjaya surirumah...tolonglah faham ye...

My hubby ni dah buat follow up ke ngan nursery tu...kang takder tempat plak la nak anto Aaisyah bila dah start keje nanti...ha lagi satu...abg ada janji something kat adik lepas adik bersalin...jgn lupa plak janji tu ye....

SELSEMA...SIKSANYA DIA...

Siannya Aaisyah...dah berapa hari dah selsema...malam tadi bawak p klinik...dapat la ubat...sian bila tgk dia nak tido tapi hidung tersumbat...tak lena dia tido...abah n my hubby ada belikan penyedut hingus...abah siap belikan vicks lagi...sedap je bau strawberry...itula yg i gunakan utk membantu dia bernafas...my hubby lagi lah bapa mithali...dia sedut hingus kat hidung Aaisyah guna mulut lagi...tak tau la saper jangkit saper....sbb bila bgn tido dua dua i and Aaisyah dah selsema....sbb cuaca ke???ntahla....

Mcm mcm cara dah dibuat utk tidurkan dia dgn selesa..buat masa ni tinggikan bantal mmg agak berkesan...nampak mcm dia tido lama je..siap kekadang termiss waktu minum susu dia sbb asyik sgt tido....dah la baby i ni manja...tido tu nak kene peluk dulu...pas tu baru boleh letak...tu pun kene tunggu dia lena betul2...yg paling i takut waktu dia selsema ni....kalau dia menangis sampai keluo air mata...nanti hidung dia mesti sumbat....

SUNTIKAN GENAP SEBULAN....

Hari ni genaplah 30 hari umur Aaisyah....apa baby akan dapat bila genap sebulan????kesakitan...kene dapatkan injection Hepatitis B...masa 1st day lahir dah kene injection Hep B ngan Vitamin K, then 2nd day kene injection BCG pastu ni kira injection 4 utk baby....sian betul tgk dia kene inject...betul2 dia nangis sampai keluo air mata...selama ni kalau dia nangis nak susu ke nak tido ke takder la sampai keluo air mata...sedih je i tgk....yg lain normal je...berat dia dari 3.4kg dah naik ke 4kg...patutla bila dukung tu rasa berat je...mmg berat dia dah bertambah...terjumpa jugak dengan akak yg lahirkan anak sama hari ngan Aaisyah...tapi dia ada masalah skit...berat baby tak naik pulak...dahla masa lahir tu baby tak cukup gula dalam darah...so akak tu kene amik air kencing baby dia utk di check...

Apa lagi i jumpa kat hospital tu????hahaha...Norkhiriah tgh berlakon ngan Lisdawati...Si Ceplos pun i jumpa.....kalau tgk dekat papan tu dia tulis tajuk citernyer Bismillahirrahmanirrahim...ntahla tak sure plak...

Appointment ngan doktor tu petang...so pagi tu lepak kat umah kitorang kat Setapak yg dah sebulan tak tgk....so ngemas skit..then, lepak2 je ngan Aaisyah....my hubby p keje...sebelum balik kg ari tuh my hubby ada basuh baju...so i pun lipat2 la n kemas2 kan baju.....rindu betul i kat umah tu...maklumla umah seniri kan....

Nanti ada lagi satu injection Hep B kene dapatkan masa umur 6 bulan...then, masa Aaisyah umur 2,3 dan 4 bulan pun ada injection jugak...apa tah nama dia....banyak betul...waalupun kesian kat baby tapi terpaksa jugak amik injection tu....untuk kesihatan baby di masa akan datang....my hubby pun mlm tu bermandikan muak Aaisyah...maybe sbb bdn dia tak sedap sbb injection tu...nasib baik tak demam....kalau demam mesti lagi susah nak jaga kan???....hmmm..

BUKAN RUAM LAMPIN TAPI....

Hmmm...pagi2 lagi dah keluo on Aaisyah 20th day...sbb apa???hmmm ruam Aaisyah makin banyak la plak...punya la risaukan ruam lampin tapi rupanya baby i ni kes lain plak...ruam kat muka...memula nampak kat dahi...ingatkan dua tiga hari boleh hilang...rupanya dah merebak satu muka dah...sian dia...terpaksa ajak my hubby p klinik....balik dari klinik my hubby pun rasa dah malas nak pegi keje..so dia amik la cuti...

Lawa gak doctor yg rawat my baby tadi...of course la punca tak dapat dikenal pasti...samada ruam sbb susu atau panas atau alergic dengan sabun mandi...disebabkan itu, i stop la makan jamu yang mak i beli dan Aaisyah pun mandi tak bersabun la...then, i kene beli satu cream tu..nama dia elomet....nampaknya sangat berkesan...dalam satu hari pun dah boleh nampak perubahan....

So, lepas ni i tau la yg baby i ni rupanya ada kes sama dengan i...kulit sensitif....terpaksa la jaga dengan lebih teliti lagi pas ni...my mom in law pun senang je mandikan baby sbb dah takyah pakai sabun...huhu

Terasa sungguh special berpantang kat Shah Alam...siap makanan dihantar ke bilik lagi...terasa bersalah pun ada...malu pun ada...serba salah pulak rasanya...thanks mak sebab jaga menantumu ini dengan sangat baik....thanks jugak to all my hubby's family...takkan dapat dilupakan layanan 1st class ni...tak tau la mcm mana nak membalas jasa diorang....hmm....

10.10.11 - UNFORGETTABLE ANNIVERSARY

BERCUKUR,TALI PUSAT, LAWATAN MISI & KENDURI

Selepas cabaran & dugaan pada hari kelima kelahiran Aaisyah....semua berjalan seperti biasa...on the 7th day, utk mengikut sunnah, my hubby telah berjaya mencukur rambut Aaisyah yg lebat tu...sampai tanggal2 baju la ayahnya letih mencukur...maklumla...kulit baby kan lembut lagi...bermulalah hari botak Aaisyah sementara nak menunggu rambut baru...

Then, bila opahnya nak mandikan....tetibe jatuh la tali pusatnya...settle lagi satu...kalau tak tu takut je nak mandikan n pakaikan baju...sbb tali pusat tu ada kat stuh...so lepas ni Aaisyah pun takde la meragam tak selesa pasal tali pusat tu...apak kata sementara nak tunggu tali pusat tu kering dan tanggal...baby akan rasa perit...maybe sebabtu kekadang Aaisyah ada meragam skit....

Esoknya, hari ke lapan...my hubby dah balik semula ke KL untuk bekerja...n pada hari yg sama, misi atau nurse dari Klinik Selisik datang melawat ke rumah..so dia check Aaisyah yg masa tu ada masalah mata bertahi...dia advice basuh dgn air suam...tapi org tua2 kata...titikkan air susu kat mata dia...i ikut la advice org tua2 tu...misi tu check juga tpt operate kat perut i tu...so semuanya ok....dia kata akan dtg lagi pada hari ke 10 utk timbang berat baby....

On the 10th day, misi lain dari klinik yg sama datang....so berat Aaisyah ok je...masa lahir 3.31kg...skang dah naik ke 3.4kg....misi tu kater selalunya berat baby turun pada hari ke 10 sbb dia byk berak utk cuci apa yg dia makan masa dalam perut...tapi ada juga la baby yg naik beratnya...macam Aaisyah...seperti biasa i pn dia check la jugak kat tpt operate tu...semuanya ok....

And pada hari tu jugak my hubby akan pulang ke kg...sbb pada malamnya akan diadakan kenduri sempena pemergian my Apak dan Mak ke Mekah....my father n mother in law pn datang pada mlm tu.....bagi tetamu yg dtg dan pernah menunaikan haji dan umrah...diorang bagi mcm2 pesanan pada apak dan mak untuk bekalan ke sana nanti....

Seperti biasa juga...Aaisyah pn menjadi tumpuan la kan..maklumla baru lahir..lagipun kebanyakan org kampung n sedara mara tak tau pun yg i mengandung...tau tau je dah keluo....hehehe...sunnah2 yg dah disettlekan..azan & iqamat dah...tahnik pada hari lahir dah...bercukur dah...tinggal nak sedekah emas or perak ikut berat rambut, berkhatan dan aqiqah yg belum.....tak plan lagi bila nak buat....

BERPANTANG...CABARAN...DUGAAN...

Actually...berpantang tu bukanlah cabarannya....i mmg dh bersedia dr segi mental pasal tu...on Aaisyah's 5th day...my nipple berdarah...so i nangis sbb x dpt nk breastfeed dia...p hospital check...n was advised not to breastfeed her beberapa hari...jd terpaksa juga bg susu formula...disebabkn luaran je yg luka...i perah susu badan n still bg kat baby...so dia tak dpt la menyusu direct dr i...i tak kisah..janji baby sihat...tp sedikit terkilan sbb x dpt nk fully breastfeed her...

Bila kat kampung...org kg pn dtgla melawat...i asyik kene bebel je sbb x ikut cara pantang yg betul...x pakai stokin...sbb i panas...jln laju2 n angkat barang...sbb i tak rasa plak sakit kat tpt operate tu...tidur mengiring...sbb takde saper inform kene tido terlentang...bertinggung...pun sbb takde saper inform yg tu tak boleh...n duduk atas simen...hehe yg tu salah i la sbb malas nk cari alas...

Then, on the same day jugak...my father dpt call tarikh kapal terbang utk haji telah ditetapkan pada 10/10/2011...dia kene ambil dokumen berkaitan pada hari isnin...iaitu esoknya....itu bermaksud....masa berpantang di kampung dah semakin singkat....lepas ni kene sambung berpantang di Shah Alam pula....

Masa pegi hospital tu...darah Aaisyah diambil utk check demam kuning...alhamdulillah...sihat wal afiat...mana tak nyer...my hubby siap suh Aaisyah mandi air daun belimbing buluh n i kene minum susu kambing lagi....

NUR AAISYAH...

Itulah nama my baby....lahir2 je org kater dia rupa ayah dia....bangga tul ayahnya...on the 1st day...mmg inform family terdekat je...so yg dtg melawat of course my father n mother in law, their 1st grandchild...also my brother ajan with my sister azian...mak n apak i nak dtg jugak tgk their 2nd grandchild ni...tp i x bg...sbb nnti i nk balik kg jugak kn...my hubby siap balik umah amik toto utk preparation temankan i mlm tu....

2nd day....whole day Aaisyah n my hubby ngan i...i try to breastfeed her....n officemate dr tmtc n menara pn ada dtg...nikleen, dila, mas, kak kiah, en.saiful, en.talib, en.sahiyar n kak rose....then, ptg tu my mother in law dtg sekali lg dgn my sister in law nazihah...doktor pn ada dtg check i n baby...alhamdulillah...semuanya ok....

3rd day...my hubby tak temankan i...i dok ngan Aaisyah je...aktivitinya adalah breastfeed n tukar lampin dia....my hubby p beli carseat utk baby...p kemas baju nk balik kg nnti...basuh baju n kemas rumah sbb nak tinggalkan umah lama kan....then bila doktor dtg check i....dia kata i dh boleh balik tengahari tu...i try call my hubby...dia tak angkat2 plak...kol 11 baru dapat....of course la dia jd kelam kabut...huhu...lepas Solat Jumaat, i checkout n balik kg utk berpantang kat sana....oh ye...sebelum check out, k.haida dtg melawat i bersama 3 org anaknya....

Mula2 nak letak nama Aaisyah je....takde Nur tu...tp bila memikirkan nama dia je kene panggil dulu kat sekolah...tambah jugakla Nur tu...huhuhu...naper double A...sbb ikut ejaan arab...ain, alif, hamzah, syin dan ta marbutah...

38 WEEKS...WHAT HAPPEN???

Terlalu bz nampaknya....sampai tak update2 semenjak week 30....semuanya lebih kurang je...baby aktif mcm biasa...bila doktor check je perut...baby sibuk je nk tendang doktor tu sekali....haha....

Semenjak week 36 pulak....kene buat check up weekly...27/9/2011 check up kat kkia...semuanya ok...i pun rasa mcm sihat je...so ingat lambat lagi nak bersalin...28/9/2011 check up kat Al Islam Specialist Hospital Kg Baru....doktor kater nak check tulang pinggul....bila dia seluk je....dia kater...ha...dah bukak dah ni 2 cm....pastu dia seluk lagi....dia kater dah 3cm....terus je menitik air mata i....mcm tak sedia je lg nak beranak....so doc kater dah kene tahan wad dah ni...i terus jd umat yg paling pendiam masa tu...berdebar rasanya...disebabkan wad penuh...i terus dihantar ke bilik bersalin...siap boleh dengar ada org sedang berjuang di bilik sebelah....

Then, ada nurse suh i tukar baju...dia buat CT scan nk check jantung anak i....normal...pastu doc pun masuk bilik i....dia seluk sekali lg....dia kater dah 4 cm...dia siap komen kater utk anak sulung kira bukaan i tu agak cepat....pastu dia kater nak pecahkan air ketuban....doc pecahkan je...terus doc kater kita kene buat procedure caesarean ni...dia terus panggil my hubby utk tgk...i dah nak nangis lagi...terus badan2 i sejuk tahap giler...doc tu siap bagi motivasi lagi...dia kater jgn sedih...ibu tak salah...tapi sbb baby dah berak dulu...so kene buat C-section segera...takut baby kat dalam lemas kalau nak tunggu openning sampai 10 cm...i mmg dah tak boleh pk dah....betapa gabranya...sekelip mata je doc tu dah prepare utk C-section procedure...i pn di hantar ke bilik operation....

Doc pakar bius terus je proceed dgn procedure bius...sbb dia tgk i menggeletar sgt...dia siap amik selimut dr bilik dia lagi utk tambah cover my upper body...lower body mmg dah tak rasa dah...kene bius...tak tau la apa doc buat dekat i...sbb ada tirai...so tak nampakla...doc siap sembang2 ngan i....tetiba dia kata...kami dah sampai rahim ni....tetiba i rasa perut i mcm digegar2...then, diikuti dengan bunyi baby nangis....doc doc tu siap kira 1....2...i pun pelik...apa bendala yg diorang kira tu...rupanya lilitan tali pusat....pastu diorang pun tunjukla baby tu kat i...tapi i tak tgk sgt pn....i mmg tak boleh kawal tahap kesejukan badan i ni...then doc proceed dgn menjahit semula tpt operate tu....semua kejap je...dlm 15 minit kot...dari waktu masuk bilik sampai i dikeluarkan balik....baby pun dah dibawa pergi utk di azan n iqamatkan by ayahnya....

11.49 am baby lahir...n i kene puasa 24 jam sampai esoknya....so baby seberat 3.31 kg..sepanjang 50 cm...ukurlilit kepala 34 cm...welcome to the new world my baby....to both docs and their assistant....tqvm...you all are very pro....

LAGU SEORANG BAPA UNTUK ANAKNYA

Selamat menghayati lagu ini..pernah dinyanyikan oleh Rhoma Irama n M.Daud Kilau..my hubby....speacial for you....huhu

ANAKKU YANG PERTAMA

Kini aku gembira
Yang ku tunggu dah tiba
Anakku lahir sudah
Hai anakku yang pertama

Sungguh cantik rupanya
Lirik wajah ibunya (tp anak i ni rupa bapaknya....huhu...)
Betapa bahagia
Hai dengan kehadirannya

Kan kujadikan raja
Di dalam rumahtangga
Kucurahkan semua
Hanya untuk mu saja

Buah hati wahai permata
Besarlah kau segera
Anakku yang pertama
Riang tiada terkira
Bila ku memandangnya
Hai anakku yang pertama

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...30 WEEKS

You are now 30 weeks pregnant (or in your 31st week if that's how you prefer to count it).

How your baby's growing

From now on, your baby will gain weight fast. Her lungs and digestive tract are nearly mature and she's probably been able to open and shut her eyes for a while now, so she can see inside you.

Your baby's lungs and digestive tract are almost fully developed. While your baby may soon slow up growing in length (he measures about 15.7 inches / 40 centimetres from crown to toe by now), she will continue to gain weight until she's born.

This week your baby continues to open and shut her eyes. She can probably see what's going on in utero, distinguish light from dark and even track a light source. If you shine a light on your stomach, your baby may move her head to follow the light or even reach out to touch the moving glow. Some researchers think baring your stomach to light stimulates visual development. But don't expect 20/20 vision when your baby is born - newborns can see a distance of only about 8 to 12 inches / 20 to 30 centimetres. (Children with normal vision don't reach 20/20 vision until about age 7 to 9.) To complete the picture, your baby now has eyebrows and eyelashes.

A pint and a half / around a litre of amniotic fluid now surrounds your baby but that volume decreases as she gets bigger and has less room in your uterus. As you and the baby continue to grow, don't be alarmed if you feel breathless, as if you can't get enough air; it's just your uterus pressing against your diaphragm. There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. At about 34 weeks (or just before birth, if this is your second or third pregnancy), your baby's head will move down into your pelvis as the baby gets into the right position for birth. That will make breathing and eating a lot easier.

How your life's changing

You've probably gained quite a bit this month - typically 1.4-1.8 kg/3-4 lb. Gaining 450 g/1 lb a week is quite normal during the last three months. Your baby's demands for nutrients are at their greatest in the final pre-birth growth spurt. You may love or loathe your increasing size - either way, remind yourself of 50 reasons why it's great to be pregnant.

It's never too late to stop smoking, as your baby will benefit from an increased oxygen supply within days of you quitting. Try to encourage those close to you who smoke to give up, too - not only will this help you to stop smoking but it may help your baby in the longer term. Research has shown that babies are at higher risk of cot death / SIDS if a parent or caregiver smokes around them.

Getting a good night's sleep can become more difficult again in the third trimester. As your bump grows, getting and staying comfortable is harder and you may find pressure on your bladder means midnight trips to the loo make an unwelcome but necessary return. Vivid dreams can also affect the quality of your sleep leaving you feeling disturbed or inspired! Don't forget to ask your husband about his dreams, too.

BABYCENTER UPDATES...28 WEEKS

You are now 28 weeks pregnant (or in your 29th week if that's how you prefer to count it).

How your baby's growing

Your baby can now open his eyes and will turn his head towards the source of any continuous bright light. His fingernails are budding, and fat layers are beginning to form as he gets ready for life outside the womb. If you like the thought of interacting with your baby while he's still in the womb, then singing and reading to your baby is a good way to do it - but don't worry if you feel uncomfortable - it's not for everyone. By this week, your baby weighs nearly 2.3 pounds / a little over 1 kilogram and may measure 14.8 inches / 38 centimetres from top to toe.

You may notice about now, that your baby moves around a lot more when you have a bath or shower. She's responding to the light and noise. Your breasts may begin to produce colostrum, the concentrated early milk, so don't be surprised if they leak a little.

How your life's changing

There's not long to go now. The final trimester starts this week and lasts until the end of your pregnancy - usually week 40 or beyond. Most women gain an average of 5 kg/11 lb during this time. You may see your doctor more often from now on but you don't have to wait for an appointment if you want to discuss anything - just ring.

You're in the home stretch. The third trimester typically starts at week 29 and lasts until week 40 and sometimes even beyond. (Don't worry - 42 weeks is the maximum! After that, a woman usually is induced to give birth.) Most women gain an average of 11 pounds / 5 kilograms during this trimester.

You're probably vacillating between two feelings: "I've been pregnant forever" and "Help, I'm not ready for this." Don't worry, you're not the only one. Swapping experiences with other women in your antenatal class can be reassuring. Try to arrange a tour of your hospital's labour and delivery ward so you know what to expect. Your antenatal class may organise one or the hospital may have an open evening, so ring to check. You could also read some of our birth stories to help you prepare for the big day. Checking off things on your to-do list can help. Start selecting possible baby names and begin thinking about life after the birth as well.

If you're a dad, you may be beginning to worry about having to watch your wife go through childbirth and wondering how helpful you'll be. Knowing the different stages of labour is a good place to start, then read up about labour partners to find out what you can do. Make sure you know what to expect if things don't go straightforwardly. Your baby may need help to be born so find out about assisted deliveries and caesarean section.

You'll probably be seeing your doctor more often in these last few weeks!!!

MASALAH KETIKA HAMIL - VARICOSE VEINS

Sekarang ni, ini la pulak masalah dalam end trimester 2 nak masuk 3 nih....susah giler nak berjalan masa mula-mula kene tuh...nak baring susah..duduk susah...berdiri susah...nak solat pun susah....kene ari jumaat...isnin & selasa siap amik Emergency Leave lagi...skang nih dah ok skit...tapi bila tgk dlm cermin masa jalan mcm penguin....huhuhu..tanya hubby i kalo tak cayer....

Why am I getting varicose veins in my legs?

Varicose veins develop or are aggravated in pregnancy because the growing uterus puts pressure on the pelvic veins and on the inferior vena cava (a large vein on the right side of the body that receives blood from the lower limbs and the greater part of the pelvic and abdominal organs). This increases blood pressure in the leg veins, and thus influences the development of varicose veins. As the baby grows and the uterus enlarges, the veins become even more prominent.

An increase in the hormone progesterone causes the walls of blood vessels to relax as well. You may just see the blue veins under your skin, or the veins may bulge; you may feel some pain, or no discomfort at all. Not pretty, we know, but varicose veins do tend to improve when pregnancy is over. Several factors, including family history and being overweight, can also contribute to the condition.

During pregnancy you're more prone to varicose veins in your legs -- though you can get them anywhere. Haemorrhoids, in fact, are technically varicose veins of the rectal area, while some women develop varicose veins in the vulva (the area around the vagina) while they are pregnant.

Can I prevent them?

You may be able to prevent them, or at least minimise them. The trick is to avoid putting too much pressure on your legs during pregnancy. Incorporate the following tips into your lifestyle even before you have a problem:

• Exercise daily -- even just a brisk walk around the block can help.

• Elevate your feet and legs whenever possible: Keep a stool or box under your desk, and try to lie down on your left side with your feet elevated on a pillow when at home. Since the inferior vena cava is on the right side, left-sided rest relieves it of the weight of the uterus; thus decreasing venous pressure in the lower extremities.

• Try sleeping on your left side with your feet on a pillow. Wedge a pillow behind your back to keep yourself tilted to the left side.

• Before getting out of bed in the morning, put on special support tights. By putting them on before standing, you'll prevent excess blood from gathering in your legs. Keep a clean pair of knickers and your tights under the pillow so you can easily put them on before getting out of bed. If you have a major problem with varicose veins your doctor can prescribe heavy duty tights but they are rather thick and can be uncomfortable in hot weather.

• Don't stand on your feet for long periods of time.

• Don't cross your legs when sitting down.

• Be aware that excessive weight gain can contribute to the problem.

Are they serious?

While varicose veins may itch or even hurt, their biggest effect is probably on your vanity. Chronic circulatory problems or blood clots resulting from varicose veins are unlikely. Only about five percent of people unfortunate enough to develop varicose veins in the first place develop small blood clots in their veins.

If you have a tender, reddened area on the surface of a varicose vein, coupled with fever, leg pain, or a rapid heartbeat, report it to your doctor without delay. In a small percentage of cases, rapid heartbeat and/or shortness of breath could be signs of a pulmonary embolism (when the blood clot has travelled to the lungs). If you experience shortness of breath and a rapid heartbeat, go to the nearest casualty department, or ring for an ambulance.

How do I get rid of them?

Sometimes varicose veins will subside on their own within three or four months of your baby's birth. But if the bulging veins become too uncomfortable to live with, you can have them corrected surgically. If you think you might want such surgery, you should probably wait until you've had all the children you want because unfortunately, varicose veins tend to worsen with each pregnancy.

BABYCENTER UPDATES...27 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 27 weeks pregnant

How your baby's growing

You're in the home stretch - two trimesters down, one more to go. Your baby is growing steadily as he prepares for delivery day. She will gain weight rapidly over the next weeks and, as the size of your bump increases, you may feel more breathless and tired. Your baby's acting more like a newborn now, too. She opens and closes her eyes, sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, and may suck a finger or thumb. She may also be hiccuping a lot this week, which explains that odd rhythmic sensation you've probably been feeling.

Now that you're approaching the final stage of pregnancy - your third trimester - your baby is really starting to grow and fill the available space in your uterus. Although they're still immature, your baby's lungs will function with some medical help, if she's born prematurely.

Your baby now weighs nearly 2 pounds / 875 grams and measures 14.5 inches / 36.6 centimetres from head to toe. Some experts believe that babies begin to dream by the 28th week. What do they dream about? No-one knows for certain but the brain is active this week as well. The characteristic grooves on the brain's surface start to appear and more brain tissue develops.

Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of the hiccups, which are common this week and throughout the pregnancy. Your baby has them but is breathing in amniotic fluid rather than air. A paper bag can't cure her hiccups, obviously, but an episode usually lasts only momentarily. The sensation for you may be strange but not unpleasant.

How your life's changing

Your body is altering rapidly now: your uterus is up near your rib cage and if you're unlucky you may discover the delights of leg cramps, haemorrhoids or varicose veins. (If it's any consolation, they should disappear after the birth.) Labour really isn't far away so if you haven't already signed up for a childbirth class, then find out if there is a space available on a course now. Since your uterus is now up near your rib cage, you may now find yourself short of breath if you haven't already. Starting now and continuing through the last three months of pregnancy, you may be plagued by itchy abdomen. Are pregnancy discomforts getting you down? Try some natural remedies to perk you up.

You're likely to have another antenatal appointment this week and you may have a blood test to check for pregnancy anaemia, a deficiency of red blood cells. Many pregnant women develop a mild case of the illness because of normal changes in the body. If your blood group is Rhesus-negative and you tested negative for Rh antibodies at an earlier appointment, you'll have a further test around now. You'll probably be tested for Rh antibodies this week or next and have an anti-D injection to combat the incompatibility. You may be offered a repeat injection at 36 weeks.

Believe it or not, studies have shown that a mum's breastfeeding success has a lot to do with her husband's attitude. If you're a new dad, it's time to bone up on breastfeeding basics so you can provide support after the baby's born. Your wife will need looking after in the first few weeks after the birth so be prepared to help out more around the house and at mealtimes, particularly if she has had a caesarean.

BABYCENTER UPDATES...26 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 26 weeks pregnant

Your baby's becoming more sensitive to sound as the network of nerves in her ears develops. If ayah talks to her now, she might learn to recognise his voice. The more she hears it, the more likely she is to find it soothing after she's born. If he feels strange just talking to the baby, he can read the newspaper or a book out loud.

How your baby's growing

Your baby may measure about 36cm/15in long with feet extended. If you could see your baby now, you might be able to get a glimpse of his baby blue (or brown, green, hazel) eyes, which are now beginning to open. He will respond to sound more consistently toward the end of the seventh month, when the nerve pathways to the ears are complete.

Measuring your baby from top to toe with his legs extended, he is about 14 inches / 35.6 centimetres. He weighs a little more than 1.6 pounds / 760 grams. Your baby's eyes begin to open around now. Response to sound grows more consistent toward the end of the seventh month, when the network of nerves to the ear is complete. He also continues to take small breaths and although he's only breathing in water and not air, it's still good practice for when he's born.

Since your baby is now growing so fast, and brain development is so intense at this stage, your nutrition is very important. Continue to eat a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of grains and vegetables. Fibre-rich foods, including whole-grain breads and cereals, lentils and brown rice are high in vitamin B and help fend off constipation.

How your life's changing

You're nearing the home stretch - the third trimester. Before you know it, you'll be cradling your baby in your arms. Around this time, you may see a slight increase in your blood pressure, which is normal. But if your weight suddenly shoots up, or your vision blurs, and your hands and feet swell dramatically, you may have pre-eclampsia. Call your doctor immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.

If you have a swab to check for a vaginal infection during pregnancy such as thrush, the results may come back positive for group B streptococcus, too. This is a common infection which lots of women have without knowing about it and without it causing any harm, but it can be dangerous for newborns

Your antenatal classes should start sometime in the next few weeks, if it hasn't already. Classes should provide you with good, clear information about the birth and the early days of parenthood. Keeping informed goes a long way toward calming any concerns you may have about giving birth.

Has your husband sorted his paternity leave? Ask what arrangements the company has in place. Firms have different policies on paternity leave, with some companies being more generous than others.

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...25 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 25 weeks pregnant

Your baby is responsive to touch now. You can have fun with him by trying to tickle his foot when he kicks you or by lying on your back and rolling from side to side, to see how he reacts. His eyelids open around now and his heart is beating so strongly, it may be heard with a stethoscope.

How your baby's growing

Your baby's beginning to make some breathing movements, though there's no air in her lungs as yet. But her senses are developing fast. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show that babies respond to touch and if you shine a light on your abdomen, your baby will turn her head, which researchers say shows that the optic nerve is functioning.

The baby now weighs nearly 1.5 pounds / 660 grams and is approximately 13.5 inches / 35 centimetres long from crown to heel. He makes breathing movements but has no air in his lungs yet. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show response to touch. At every antenatal visit, your doctor will take your blood pressure and do tests on a sample of your urine. In this way, pregnancy-related conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes can be detected and treated.

How your life's changing

Sleep may not feel that restful any more if you're having vivid or scary dreams. These are normal because when you sleep, your subconscious becomes the stage for any worries about pregnancy and impending motherhood. Your growing bump may also make it hard to get into a comfortable position. It's recommended that you get into the habit of sleeping on your side rather than your back - follow our tips for using pillows as wedges.

Your fingers, wrists and hands may be feeling achy and numb. The carpal tunnel in the wrist is swollen, as are many other tissues in your body. Nerves that run through the tunnel end up pinched, creating pressure that manifests itself as shooting or burning pain. Wearing a brace may help; so will taking vitamin B6. Talk to your doctor about other ways to cope.

Thinking ahead

Many pregnant women worry about whether they will be able to birth their babies vaginally - a perfectly natural concern, particularly if it is your first. Take heart, there are some excellent positions for labour you can try which not only help your cervix to dilate during contractions but will also encourage the baby to move down the birth canal when the time comes. Using these positions along with established childbirth techniques such as breathing, massage and natural pain relief will increase your chances of a normal delivery.

HEMOGLOBIN SEMAKIN BAIK...

Seperti yang pernah tercoret sebelum ni regarding HB rendah pada check up yg lepas, kali ni HB dah semakin baik 10.9 mg..walaupun tak sampai lagi ke minimum level 11 mg, tapi alhamdulillah menunjukkan peningkatan..bak kata org, waktu pregnant ni mmg perkara yg tak dijangka2 ada je..tapi mmg pengambilan vitamin dan pemakanan dijaga dengan serius..taknak la apa-apa jadi kat baby especially kan..masa sebelum kawin ingatkan senang je buat anak ni..kawin then, mengandung..tapi x mcm tu rupanya..tanya hubby i kalau tak percaya..maybe ujian Allah pada kitorang utk lebih menghargai amanahNya..

Check up seperti biasa..check berat, urin, BP which all in normal condition..then, tadi nurse pun ada tunjuk result utk diabetis test check up sebelum ni gak..which is in normal level..then, dia bg briefing pasal pemakanan skit..and dapat la stock vitamin lagi utk dimkn..berat pn dah naik 2 kilo dari check up sebelum ni..which is also normal..and nurse tu pun pesan tak digalakkan berat naik sampai 4 kg dalam sebulan..so..walaupun perut i org kater tak nampak mcm 6 bulan, tapi baby measurement and weight semuanya normal seperti dijadualkan..tu pn dah cukup bagus..alhamdulillah..

Lastly, nurse inform yg kali ni kene amik injection utk kancing gigi..sbb mengandung anak sulung..injection tu kene amik 2 kali..so next check up kene inject lagi la nampaknya..pastu next check up dia suh dah bawak scan baby tu..nasib baik next appointment kat annexxe 15/7 then 18/7 baru check up kat KKIA...so boleh la bagi KKIA tgk scan tu..

Thanks dear 4 menunggu adik sepanjang check up tu..you are the best 3x..nyanyi ikut lagu hindustan yg abg suka tu...huhuhu

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...24 WEEKS

Hello deqno! 24 weeks pregnant

How your baby's growing

Your baby is still on the skinny side with no body fat but his brain is growing rapidly and he's starting to fill the space in your uterus. By now, you probably have a definite "pregnant" shape and the linea nigra, a dark line of pigmentation, may appear down the centre of your abdomen. Your baby's taste buds are also forming and, believe it or not, his sweet tooth. Could that explain your sudden craving for dodol and kuih lapis? No one knows for sure but it's a good excuse, next time you find yourself stalking the kuih lady at the pasar malam. Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about 99g/22oz since last week. Your fetus weighs more than 1.3 pounds / 600 grams. From crown to heel she could measure 11.8 inches / 30 centimetres. His skin is thin and fragile but his body is filling out and taking up more room in your uterus. He may also be developing a weakness for sweets. Taste buds are now forming, and, believe it or not, acquiring a sweet tooth is all part of it. The other big milestone your baby reaches at this stage of pregnancy is that she may now survive, with special care, if she is born prematurely - otherwise known as becoming "viable".

How your life's changing

You may notice faint red streaks, otherwise known as striae, or stretchmarks on your tummy, hips, buttocks and breasts. Lots of women have very itchy skin as well - pregnancy hormones can make your skin drier and stretching over a growing bump doesn't help. Rubbing on creams may make you feel more comfortable and help soothe the itching but it won't get rid of stretchmarks and is unlikely to prevent them. Stretchmarks are typical at this stage of pregnancy and will fade to silvery white marks after you give birth.

You may also find that your eyes are more sensitive to light, feeling gritty and dry - a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom known as dry-eye. To ease your discomfort, you can use an artificial tears solution to add moisture, available from pharmacies. For other pregnancy niggles such as headaches, cramps or lower back pain, try our suggestions for natural remedies.

How your baby's growing

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn. His lips are becoming more distinct and his eyes have developed; though the iris still lacks pigment, his eyebrows and eyelids are in place. His pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily and the first signs of teeth are showing beneath his gum line. Before you know it, your baby will be smiling at you. Your baby's skin is still quite wrinkled because he has so much growing still to do. But his face and body are beginning to look more like those of a newborn as his lips, eyelids and ears become more distinct. If people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that all women and their babies grow at different rates. What's important is that you see continuous growth and change, not how fast or slow it is.

How your life's changing

At this point, you'll probably notice a steady gain in weight - about 225g/half a pound each week. You may also notice that your appetite's increasing. It's okay to give in to an occasional yearning for Maggi mee or kuih lapis, but try to find a healthy substitute if you constantly long for junk food.

Sometimes it's difficult to look much beyond the birth but it's worth finding out about babies before you hold your own. For example, you may be surprised at what a newborn looks like or you may need a crash course in changing nappies. Get together with your husband and take our light-hearted quiz.

You may have noticed some changes down below. It's common in pregnancy to have an increased vaginal discharge as the result of increased blood flow in that part of the body. Needing to go to the loo a lot is another side-effect of pregnancy but don't forget that you are also more susceptible to urinary tract infections too - see your doctor if you suspect about of cystitis. You may also experience bleeding from the back passage, particularly if you have developed haemorrhoids. Follow our tips for avoiding constipation and it should help.

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...21 WEEKS

You are now 21 weeks pregnant (or in your 22nd week if that's how you prefer to count it).

How your baby's growing

Your baby could measure about 27cm/10-and-a-half inches from crown to heel. Her eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed and her fingernails now cover her fingertips. Watch what you say from now on because she will probably hear you. You can communicate by talking, singing (use our lullaby lyrics, if you're a bit rusty) or why not try reading aloud? Some studies suggest a newborn will suck more vigorously when you feed if you read from a book frequently heard in utero. Choose a children's classic, take a look at some of our parent's favourites or use one of your own books - whatever you prefer.

How your life's changing

It's hard to be graceful when you're pregnant so don't be surprised if you find yourself getting more clumsy these days. You're carrying more weight, your centre of gravity has changed with your growing uterus, and your fingers, toes, and other joints are all loosening, thanks to the effect of pregnancy hormones. Try to watch where you're going, and if you haven't already done so, say goodbye to high heels. They make keeping your balance more difficult, and can cause backaches.

Just how much weight you will gain by the end of pregnancy may be preying on your mind. Doctors are much more relaxed about weight gain in pregnancy now. Take the same approach and give yourself a break. It's also best not to worry immediately about losing weight after you've had your baby as your body can take anything from a few months to a year to recover nutrients used up during pregnancy.

Do see your doctor, however, if your weight is soaring or plummeting. Your doctor will usually check to see if your bump is measuring about right for your dates. If you are large-for-dates further investigations can be arranged to find out why.

How much iron do I need during pregnancy?

Before you conceived, you needed about 15 milligrams (mg) of iron a day (FSA n.d. a). That's quite a lot. Many of us probably don't actually get the recommended daily amount.

During pregnancy, you need extra iron to help keep you and your baby healthy. If you don't have enough iron to fuel haemoglobin production for both of you, you may develop iron-deficiency anaemia. This is the most common type of anaemia in pregnancy (Reveiz et al 2007) and about one in five women develop this type when they are pregnant (WHO et al 2001 cited in CKS 2005).

What can I do to make sure I have enough iron?

A pregnant woman requires 30mg of iron daily. As with most vitamins and minerals, food is the best source of iron. You shouldn't need iron supplements if you take care to have a diet rich in iron. This means eating lots of dark green leafy vegetables, wholemeal bread, iron-fortified cereals, potatoes, lean red meat, shellfish, raisins, prunes and pulses.

Vitamin C helps your body absorb the iron in your diet. Try drinking plenty of orange juice or eating fruit or vegetables which are rich in vitamin C, when you have an iron-rich meal, to help prevent you from becoming anaemic (FSA n.d. b).

Tea and coffee, even soy protein, egg yolks and milk will make it difficult for your body to absorb iron, so it's best not to drink them at mealtimes (Morck et al 1983; Zijp et al 2000).

How will I know if I'm anaemic?

Anemia is confirmed if your haemoglobin level is less than 11.0 gm/dl. The routine blood tests you have at the antenatal clinic will check whether your haemoglobin levels are satisfactory. It's normal for the levels to drop a little during pregnancy because there's far more fluid in your blood to dilute the red blood cells (NCCWCH 2003: CKS 2005).

Only if your levels drop very low indeed will your doctor prescribe iron tablets.

Are some women more likely to become anaemic during pregnancy?

Women who have a diet that is low in iron are likely to become anaemic. You're also more likely to have iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy if your body's iron supplies have already been depleted, perhaps because you've had two or more pregnancies close together (Bewley 2004), or you had heavy periods before you became pregnant (CKS 2005).

If you're carrying more than one baby then the demands of each baby can also increase your risk of anaemia (Denton and Davies 2004).

Thalassaemia is a common cause of anemia in pregnancy. It is an inherited blood disorder where the ability to produce the haemoglobin chain, either the alpha or beta, is affected. Alpha thalassaemia is more common in Malaysia than beta thalassaemia (MyTalasemia).

What are the symptoms?

You may not be aware that you have become anaemic, although fatigue is a common sign and so is breathlessness (CKS 2005). However, these are symptoms also experienced by many pregnant women who are not anaemic.

Headaches, tinnitus and palpitations are other symptoms of anaemia, along with unusual food cravings (CKS 2005). Your eyelids, nail beds and tongue may also look pale (CKS 2005).

How is anaemia treated?

Your doctor will discuss your diet with you to make sure that you are eating enough of the right kinds of food, and she may prescribe iron supplements.

The drawback with iron supplements is that while they can improve your iron levels they also have some unpleasant side effects (Reveiz et al 2007). They can cause constipation and other tummy upsets, such as nausea, diarrhoea and tummy ache (CKS 2005). Increasing the fibre in your diet while you're taking them can help prevent constipation and taking the tablets with a meal can help reduce the other side effects (CKS 2005).

If you find the side effects become a serious problem for you, ask your doctor to prescribe you another brand - or to reduce the dose, as taking less is probably better than not taking any at all (CKS 2005).

Could my being anaemic affect my baby's health?

Unless you are severely anaemic, you don't need to worry about your baby. Your body will make sure that your baby gets his quota of iron before you get yours. So you'll be short of iron long before he is. Your baby makes the heaviest demands on your iron supplies in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy (CKS 2005), so this is the time to take extra care of yourself.

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...19 WEEKS

Hello deqno!
19 weeks pregnant

Congratulations! You've hit the halfway mark in your pregnancy. You'll start growing even more rapidly in the weeks to come, so don't be surprised if you find yourself slowing down. If you feel the urge to indulge in an afternoon nap, go for it, if you can - you and your baby deserve it. Her hearing is developing, and she'll be getting used to the sound of your voice. Tiny teeth are also forming in her gums.

How your baby's growing

This is a crucial time for your baby's sensory development which takes place in specialised areas of the brain. The fetus measures around 6 inches / 15 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs about 9 ounces / 240 grams. She has started to swallow amniotic fluid and her kidneys continue to make urine. Hair on the scalp is sprouting. If your baby is a girl, she has six million eggs in her ovaries... they'll dwindle to one million by the time she's born.

How your life's changing

Your uterus has grown well into your abdomen - the top of it probably reaches your belly button. From now on it will grow at about a centimetre per week. You may also notice some aching in your lower abdomen. It's nothing to be alarmed about - it's just the stretching of your muscles and ligaments supporting your bump. You may have felt the kicking and somersaulting of your growing baby. At times, you might find that she is so mobile that you can't sleep. The next 10 weeks or so will be your baby's busiest and most active time, until the womb gets too crowded.

Many pregnant women worry that they won't be able to cope with the pain of labour and childbirth. Some women consider an elective caesarean to avoid the problem completely, but this isn't necessarily a good idea as the risks with a caesarean delivery are much higher than with a normal delivery and there will still be pain involved, albeit after the birth. There are many effective forms of pain relief available. You could try some natural methods of pain relief first, which can help women cope with the pain of labour without any drugs at all. The more you find out about what is available or what you can try, the more in control you will feel and the less worried you will be.

Getting a good night's sleep when you're pregnant can be difficult, particularly if you have heartburn or indigestion. If that's the case then food will be the last thing on your mind, but some pregnant women wake up in the night with hunger pangs and have to have a midnight feast before they can get back to sleep. Another cause of disrupted nights may be your husband's elbow in your side because pregnancy can cause nasal congestion resulting in - yes, you guessed it - snoring.

BABYCENTRE UPDATES...18 WEEKS

Hello deqno!
18 weeks pregnant

Your baby is twice as big as he was last month but he still weighs only about 190g (6.7oz). Meanwhile, most of the weight you've gained is from amniotic fluid, placenta and water retention. Although things may seem calm on the surface, your little one is kicking, flexing, reaching, rolling, and even sucking his thumb now. If you haven't felt him move yet, you will in the next few weeks. His hearing is now functioning and he will be listening to your heartbeat.

How your baby's growing

This week, you officially begin your fifth month of pregnancy. Your baby may have reached 15 cm from crown to rump by now, and he can both feel and hear. Admittedly at the moment, all he can hear is your heartbeat and the flow of your digestive system but soon he'll be able to detect noise outside the womb and identify your voice.

How your life's changing

You're just a week away from the half-way mark. Pregnancy care is much more relaxed than it used to be, but don't chew over things alone if you're feeling anxious. Our Most Frequently Asked Questions on antenatal health, pregnancy complications, and labour and birth may reassure you but don't hesitate to ring your doctor if you're still worried.

However, in the next few weeks you'll probably be having second trimester scans to check your baby's organs. Seeing your baby curled up inside you - or kicking or rolling - is immensely moving so take your husband with you if you can.

Bigger, more comfortable clothes are a must now. Treat yourself to a new pair of shoes also in a bigger size, as your feet will swell along with your body. And pick a low heel for extra stability as your bump grows.
